from her window she watched
she soared with the birds
and swam with the gulls
their song hers
the breeze brought the sun closer
shattering unhappiness
the rain made her toes curl
spreading imagination and love
on her windows
spattering dots to see into their
mirrors like a portal to unknown
adventures
life on another side in one’s
dreams or another’s
blending together like kittens
curled in sleep
steeped in stories that would be told
every rainy day to children of her
own
she basked in the light of the day
and the future world where rainbows
claimed residence over her head
the pot of gold a short distance away
now in reach
she carried her newfound riches to the
ends of the earth
children on her back and in her lap
they sailed the seven seas
discovered castles becoming
princes and princesses, kings
and queens
they became superheroes in every
metropolis saving the disadvantaged
they rode elephants and tigers in foreign
lands and when night came upon them,
they glowed like the moon and the stars
spreading their tales to all that would
listen
returning home the beach their stage
farms their arena when children came
to visit
they told their stories to the animals
too
the children grew up and she became tired
they carried on the stories and the legends
and adventures she had brought to them
she had set their imaginations free
spent the pot of gold where it did the most
good
it never ran dry or became empty
because she left them hope and windows
filled with rain drops.
Thanks for reading.
